Nikkei Place Community Awards + Fundraising Dinner

About The Event

Nikkei National Museum & Cultural Centre remembers the past and celebrates the present.

This year marks a pivotal moment in our community — the 30th Anniversary of Japanese Canadian Redress.

Many people doubted redress could ever happen, but with the hard work of the National Association of Japanese Canadians (NAJC) Strategy Committee and many grassroots community members, a formal apology and settlement for the injustices of the 1940s came to be in 1988. We remember those moments — the people who lived through them, and how, as a community, we persevered.

The work of the NNMCC is to continue to honour and preserve this history, serving to educate and connect people to community and the history, heritage, and culture of Japanese Canadians.
